MDC BOARD OF DIRECTORS & LEADERSHIP

MDC Board Meetings are generally held the first Wednesday of every month at 1pm in the Charles Mack Citizens Center*.  The public is welcome to attend; however they are Board Meetings and as such, public comment is open only as noted on the agenda. *Meeting date or location may be changed due to holiday or if the Charles Mack Citizens Center is unavailable.

MISSION:  The Mooresville Downtown Commission creates, facilitates, and promotes the vibrancy of the heart of Mooresville through engagement, support, advocacy and leadership.

ECONOMIC POSITIONING STATEMENT:  Modernizing within the context of historic preservation, Downtown Mooresville is racing forward to build economic vibrancy through creating synergy with local businesses and residents while engaging with partners to support creative entrepreneurship.

Mooresville Downtown Commission is a North Carolina Main Street community, designated by the N.C. Department of Commerce Main Street & Rural Planning Center. The MDC is charged with administering the program at the local level and building public-private partnerships to spur economic development that achieves measurable results such as investment, business growth, and job creation.

Downtown Mooresville was honored to serve as the host community for the 2025 North Carolina Main Street Conference. The three-day conference, organized by the NC Main Street & Rural  Planning Center, is the largest statewide downtown revitalization conference in the country. The 2025 event was a huge success featuring the largest attendance to date!

The NC Main Street & Rural Planning Center is a Main Street America™ Coordinating Program. Main Street America™ is a program of the nonprofit National Main Street Center, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. As one of the first Main Street America™ Coordinating Programs designated in 1980, NC Main Street inspires placemaking through building asset-based economic development strategies. The NC Main Street staff is charged by the NC Department of Commerce to facilitate downtown economic development using the Main Street America Four-Point Approach. The Main Street Approach™ focuses on economic development strategies to transform downtown. These strategies articulate a focused path to revitalizing or strengthening a downtown economy. The Mooresville Downtown Commission (MDC) proudly announces designation as a Nationally Accredited Main Street America™ program for the fifth consecutive year.  This accreditation status is Main Street America’s top-tier recognition and signifies a demonstrated commitment to comprehensive commercial district revitalization and a proven track record of successfully developing an asset-based economic development strategy.  The MDC began active partnerships with both state and national Main Street programs in 2009, and the Board of Directors, partners, and volunteers have worked diligently for several years to meet the rigorous performance standards required for the reputable mark of distinction, earning the status in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.

Downtown is the heart of Mooresville. And the Mooresville Downtown Commission (MDC) is the pulse. The MDC is a partnership of merchants, property and business owners, volunteers, neighbors and local leaders who work together to promote, cultivate, advocate and care for Downtown Mooresville.  The MDC acts as a conduit between property owners, businesses, community leaders, and state and national organizations to ensure Downtown remains a vibrant asset for the Town of Mooresville.  We couldn’t accomplish what we do without our Board of Directors and volunteers!
