PROUD TO BE AN OFFICIAL MAIN STREET COMMUNITY!
The Mooresville Downtown Commission (MDC) proudly announces designation as a Nationally Accredited Main Street America™ program again this year. This accreditation status is Main Street America’s top-tier recognition and signifies a demonstrated commitment to comprehensive commercial district revitalization and a proven track record of successfully developing an asset-based economic development strategy. The MDC began active partnerships with both state and national “Main Street” programs in 2009, and the Board of Directors, partners, and volunteers have worked diligently for several years to meet the rigorous performance standards required for the reputable mark of distinction, earning the status in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
The Mooresville Downtown Commission is a North Carolina Main Street community, designated by the N.C. Department of Commerce Main Street & Rural Planning Center. The Mooresville Downtown Commission is charged with administering the program at the local level and building public-private partnerships to spur economic development that achieves measurable results such as investment, business growth, and job creation.
As a Main Street America™ Accredited program, the MDC is a recognized leading program among the national network of more than 1,200 neighborhoods and communities that share both a commitment to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. All Main Street America™ Accredited programs meet a set of National Accreditation Standards of Performance as outlined by Main Street America.
Downtown is the heart of Mooresville. And the Mooresville Downtown Commission (MDC) is the pulse. The MDC is a partnership of merchants, property and business owners, volunteers, neighbors and local leaders who work together to promote, cultivate, advocate and care for Downtown Mooresville. The MDC acts as a conduit between property owners, businesses, community leaders, and state and national organizations to ensure Downtown remains a vibrant asset for the Town of Mooresville. We couldn’t accomplish what we do without our Board of Directors and volunteers!
